peerScholar Integration with Avenue to Learn

peerScholar Integration

peerScholar is a peer review platform and from July 2020 to May 2021 is part of a pilot program to provide it free for McMaster University, in conjunction with peerScholar and eCampus Ontario. To request an integration, please put in ticket with Avenue Support by emailing avenue@mcmaster.ca.

After we have confirmed the connection to peerScholar and your course, you’ll be able to build an activity. Please visit this page: https://support.peerscholar.com/hc/en-us/articles/360036227993-Building-an-Activity-Brightspace-D2L- to continue to configure peerScholar to engage the peer review activity. You will have three choices, Classic, Case Study and Group Work.  Each activity has three basic components, build the activity, set the dates and then setup the grading.

Classic

The Classic activity is when a student submits work, and will gain access to other student’s work to provide a review, then an opportunity to revise and resubmit.  For more information, including step-by-step instructions on building a Classic activity, please visit this page: https://support.peerscholar.com/hc/en-us/articles/360036157833-Guide-to-Building-a-Classic-Activity.

Case Study

The Case Study activity is when each student (or set of students) will see a different specific scenario, but will answer a roughly parallel assessment. For more information, including step-by-step instructions on building a Case Study activity, please visit this page: https://support.peerscholar.com/hc/en-us/articles/360035736234-Guide-to-Building-a-Case-Study-Activity.

Group Work

Group Work activities allow one student to submit on behalf of a group of students, who then work together to assess other’s work, and revise their own work before final submission.  For more information, including step-by-step instructions on building a Group Work activity, please visit this page: https://support.peerscholar.com/hc/en-us/articles/360036235413-Guide-to-Building-a-Group-Work-Activity
